Ontario's environmental watchdog is urging the provincial government to take action to protect bee populations from pesticides containing neoni-cotinoids if federal efforts prove ineffective. Federal regulators have taken limited action to address the potential negative impact of neonicotinoid pesticides on bee populations and, in turn, on pollination of crops and on biodiversity in general, said Ontario Environmental Commissioner Gord Miller's annual report to the provincial legislature, published Oct. 7.
