U.S., India Initiate Efforts to Mobilize Finance for Renewable Energy Market

The U.S. and India have created a forum that will bring together public and private sector officials to look at ways to mobilize finance for India's burgeoning renewable energy market. The Clean Energy Finance Forum is one of several new energy initiatives announced Sept. 30 after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Barack Obama in Washington for the first time since being elected. The two countries also announced a new $1 billion financing deal between the U.S. Export-Import Bank and India's Renewable Energy Development Agency to help boost U.S. renewable exports to India and help India transition to a low-carbon economy.
