It's a commitment that Mexican officials hope other countries will step forward to take, Juan Jose Guerra Abud, secretary of Mexico's Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, told international representatives at the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate in Mexico City. "Even though Mexico is a country that emits 1.4 percent of the world's emissions, we want to take on our responsibility," Guerra Abud said at the summit. "We have established a specific strategy and set out a deadline, both in 20 years and 40 years, in terms of the work that Mexico has to do."
