Biggest Monthly Gain in Year for Price Of Carbon Allowances Follows Supply Cut

European Union carbon emissions permits had their biggest monthly gain in a year after the bloc cut the 2014 supply by about one-fifth to help deal with a glut. The price of December allowances jumped 9 percent to 7.18 euros ($9.95) a metric ton on the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London, extending the monthly gain to 28 percent. They reached 7.33 euros Feb. 24, the highest price in 14 months.
