European Parliament Adopts Chemicals Terminology Update to Worker Safely Laws

The European Parliament rubber-stamped a draft European Union directive Feb. 4 that will update five workplace safety laws by bringing their terminology in line with the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. At a plenary session in Strasbourg, France, members of the European Parliament voted, 656-15 with 5 abstentions, in favor of the measure.
