摘要

The South Africa government said it will step up efforts to reduce the impact of climate change as parts of the country experience severe drought and heavy rainfalls. In a Sept. 14 address on climate change at the University of Johannesburg, Minister of Environmental Affairs Edna Molewa outlined a series of government programs to tackle the challenges and expressed her wish for a global agreement to support countries that need a hand. Speaking about the country's plans ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in December, Molewa said South Africa and much of the continent are at greater risk because of low levels of development and their climate change adaptation efforts aren't on the scale of developed countries.
