London Takes On Potential Climate Change Risks Through Insurers, Supply Chains

London is importing climate-related risks through investments, insurers and supply chains, according to a new report that details dangers posed to the U.K. capital by global warming beyond the physical effects. More than half the Financial Times Stock Exchange index 100 companies and 60 percent of small and midsize companies have no plans in place to adapt to the effects of rising temperatures, the London Assembly's Economy Committee said in the study July 23. While more intense rainfall and heat waves present their own dangers in London, the capital's businesses have to take account of events all over the world that could affect operations and supply chains, the committee said.
