摘要

India's water ministry announced Sept. 6 that it was targeting 200 trillion rupees ($3 trillion) through government investment and market borrowing to fast-track several large irrigation projects that stalled due to a funding shortage. The government identified 99 projects, and said it wants to complete 23 projects by next March, 31 more by March of 2018, and 45 additional projects by the end of 2019. The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation said in a statement that initial funding would come from the federal budget for 2016-2017. State governments also will be asked to contribute finance for their respective projects.
