摘要

Canada rejected a proposal to list the Atlantic blue-fin tuna as endangered, saying such a designation would end commercial, sport and recreational fisheries worth more than $6 million a year. The Atlantic bluefin is among 12 aquatic species that a federal advisory group recommended for designation as endangered under Canada's Species at Risk Act. Most of the bluefin tuna caught on Canada's East Coast is exported to the U.S. and Japan.
