Implementation plans released last week by the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) show that, with few exceptions, tariffs applied to 54 environmental goods will be at or below 5 percent from this year, as planned. "The conclusion of this APEC initiative, the first multilateral tariff-cutting arrangement in 20 years, will help to lower the cost of environmental goods such as solar panels, wind turbines and air pollution control equipment," a Jan. 28 APEC statement announcing the release of the implementation plans said.
