China to Establish Special Research Fund to Fight Air Pollution

China will establish a special fund to direct scientific research toward fighting air pollution. Without going into detail, Premier Li Keqiang said March 15 that "special conditions" contribute to northern China's heavy air pollution. While the government will do more to reduce emissions caused by coal-fired power plants, vehicle exhaust and dust, other lesser-known factors must be studied to make combating the problem more effective, Li said at the close of the annual National People's Congress (NPC) meetings in Beijing.
