Germany Unveils $15.8 Billion Plan For Wind, Solar Power Lines

Germany's power-grid builders unveiled plans to build two underground cables, which will run almost parallel and transmit clean energy from its north to the industrialized south by 2025. Blueprints for the SuedLink and SuedOstLink high-voltage power cables were sent to the country's Bnetza power regulator on March 7 and will be fine-tuned before building starts in 2020 or 2021, according to Ten-net TSO GmbH, 50Hertz GmbH and Transnet BW GmbH. SuedLink may cost about 10 billion euros ($10.6 billion) and SuedOstLink as much as 5 billion euros.
