On 1 August 2014 a Bill amending the Polish Energy Law came into force. The amendment to the Energy Law is intended to make it easier for the major Polish oil and gas company (PGNiG) to spin off its retail business to a separate entity. Based on the new law, the new company (PGNiG Retail) will be released from the obligation to sign new agreements with ca. 6.5 million of its new customers.
