Digital Printing Continues to Explore New Markets

Digital printing of textiles continues to show stellar expansion, with estimates of the sector's growth placed by some analysts as high as 30% a year. It may still only be a small fraction of global textile printing - probably no more than 1.5% - but its performance is encouraging ever-higher levels of R&D, with new players entering the market all the time. Textiles and other areas of industrial printing look increasingly attractive to inkjet print-head and printer manufacturers that are seeing their SOHO (small and home office) business shrink under the influence of tablet computing. The latest big name to join the fray is Agfa, with its Ardeco dye-sublimation system.
