ECHA Starts Biocide Assessments

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has started its first assessment of a biocide under the EU's new biocides regulation. It will consider whether dinotefuran should be used as an insecticide. While under assessment, biocidal products containing that active substance will only be authorised by ECHA if there are no better alternatives. This precaution will be taken for all future screening under the regulation. Companies potentially using dinotefuran have been asked to provide information about the biocide, which will be published by ECHA unless it is confidential.
