Despite the push to bring manufacturing back to large consumer markets, dyeing and printing facilities in the US are still dying out, take Maine Dye & Textiles in Saco, Maine, for example. Until recently, the company saw steady growth and evolved into a dye house that mostly served technical textile markets. Problems related to an equipment upgrade and expansion effort were cited as the primary reasons for its downfall.
