Pre-reduced indigo earns AATCC Olney Medal Award

Howard C Malpass is the 2019 recipient of the AATCC Olney Medal Award, which recognises outstanding achievements in textile or polymer chemistry. Malpass is being recognised for his work on the implementation of pre-reduced indigo and its impact on the dyeing, manufacturing and retail industries. Early in an expansive career, Malpass worked at Miliken & Co where he progressed from a supervisor to dyeing superintendent. In 1979, he became the technical superintendent forCone Mills commission dyeing and finishing and a decade later he joined BASF (later DyStar) as a technical advisor where he was assigned the responsibility for indigo technical service, among other products.
