Global construction activity is flourishing across the world and a great deal of the work has taken place in developing regions such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and in the Middle East. Large-scale construction projects are now being completed quickly in these regions because these structures are key to improving national wealth. Dubai in particular has been an attractive investment location and the number of multi-billion dollar construction projects taking place in the country, including the Burj Dubai - the world's tallest tower, has escalated. It has now been revealed that the country plans to spend US$ 11 billion on a waterway longer than the Panama Canal, the largest construction project undertaken in the emirate.
