Global construction equipment sales are expected to increase by 16% this year, according to updated forecasts from specialist consultant Off-Highway Research. Worldwide sales are expected to exceed 810,000 units, with a value of more than US$80 billion. Most major regional equipment markets are expected to see growth this year, but the key driver will be China. Crawler excavator sales have more than doubled in the first half of 2017, compared to the same period last year. Among other impacts, this is likely to mean that for the first time more excavators than wheeled loaders will be sold in China in 2017, a market which was once dominated by the latter type of equipment.
