It makes me sound terribly old - and I do not think I am - when I say that I was involved in the very earliest days of television automation. I remember visiting TV stations back then, where presentation directors managed playout manually. Some would say: "What can automation do for me? I have enough staff to manage what I have to do and besides I need flexibility."
