There are many challenges in creating graphics that work well with 3D live sports. What style of graphics to use? Where to position them in the 3D space for comfortable viewing over a variety of viewing conditions? Chyron has answers to help our users create these graphics with an efficient workflow that is easily used by existing production crews with a minimum of special training, effort and cost. Chyron has been making 3D graphics for about 10 years, since the introduction of Lyric software and our current family of graphics devices. Like many other broadcast graphics tools, Lyric has always used OpenGL based rendering, where graphics are created as primitive 3D objects such as cubes, spheres and cylinders. These objects are then 'viewed' through a virtual camera to create the 2D scene we see on the monitor.
