THE US AIR FORCE T-X TRAINER COMPETITION

The US Air Force is havinga competition for an advanced jet trainer to replace the Northrop T-38 fleet, which is now about a half century old. It is the most important US trainer competition in recent years. With preliminary orders from the US Air Force alone expected to be for 350 aircraft. However, should other services also wish to participate, the total requirement could be for up to three times that figure. The selected aircraft type is expected to enter service in 2024.
