CFM LEAP ENGINES WILL IMPROVE ON THE CFM 56'S RECORD

In a free-wheeling presentation to the press on the eve of the 27th airshow, Mr Cael Meheurst, President and CEO of CFM International said that the company expected to achieve, a net profit of about $30 billion for 2017. CFM, Mr. Meheurst said, had a total backlog of 17,500 LEAP engines. CFM faces near-ideal business conditions, Mr Meheurst said, with fuel pricing at the lowest in 9 months, at less than half the January 2012 prices. At the same time, the air travel market is booming, with a 7.5per cent growth in global passenger volume. Globally, the commercial aircraft fleet grew by 3.8 per cent over the previous years, with an average load factor system-wide of 80.6 per cent. Additionally, Mr. Meheurst pointed out, the airline industry continues to be in the best of health . That gave CFM a total of 1,193 new orders in May alone, - 300 CFM56 engines and 887 LEAP ones - for a total value at the list prices of $16.5 billion.
