Paris vu par... les hôteliers, du kitsch au chic, cinérama

Avec 27 millions de visiteurs intramuros, Paris maintient son leadership planétaire. Malgré la crise, l'hôtellerie parisienne dit avoir réalisé en 2011 une année exceptionnelle, tout particulièrement dans la tranche des 3 et 4 étoiles. Depuis deux ans, nombre d'établissements en ont profité pour se rénover tandis que plusieurs créations voyaient le jour, y compris dans le (très) haut de gamme avec l'arrivée de grandes enseignes internationales. Quelle(s) image(s) de la capitale, ces nouvelles adresses vendent-elles à leurs clients ? A voir tant de ces hôtels faire leur cinéma, la "Ville Lumière" - une des plus filmées au monde - se revendiquerait-elle désormais comme celle des frères Lumière ? Comme dans les salles obscures, le chefd'œuvre côtoie ici la série Z !%I love Paris in the springtime/I love Paris in the fall/1 love Paris in the winter/When it drizzles/1 love Paris in the summer/When it sizzles… goes the old Cole Porter song sung best of all by Ella Fizgerald and Frank Sinatra, which isn't showing so much as a wrinkle yet after sixty years. Yep, and so do heaps of other folk all around the planet love Paris, among which are the 27 million visitors who actually made it to the city of light last year to see the sights, ogle the pretty gals, eat nice food in romantic restaurants, make love in anonymous hotel rooms that still exude character, submit humbly to discourteous waiters in marvellous cafes, go window shopping and end up on a spending spree, walk up and down the embankments, accomplish pilgrimages to shrines and churches, do the river cruise and take too many pix, get alternately dazed and bored in countless museums, struggle up the Eiffel Tower, slalom between dogshit in certain streets, ascend Montmartre and experience sar-tori while being ripped off, go to the Flea Market and buy there a costly piece of junk, get endlessly panhandled while trying to take a shot of Notre Dame from Kilometre Zero, ride the best underground railway in the world where they must beware of pickpockets, walk up and down picturesque old streets, raid bakeries for the nicest pastries east and west of the Pecos… I could go on indefinitely - there are so many things to do and do again in and around the town.
