The architect, the military, and the politician, sometimes the three at the same time

On March 13,2015, the Egyptian government announced that it was going to create a new capital city for the country in the coming years. Situated 45 kilometers East of Cairo, this new city will host the headquarters of the various governmental and parliamentary institutions, embassies, as well as many private offices, companies being the real economic investors of the project. The few images of the urban project as conceived by the architecture office Skidmore, Owings & Merill (SOM) were massively spread through the traditional means (blogs and other well-known architectural publications), without anyone to challenge this diffusion.
