This is a book about James Jesus Angleton, one of the ablest spies of the Second World War generation who got his start in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), and went on to lead the post-Second World War Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on counter-intelligence matters during the cold war. It is also about the enormous influence of those present at the creation of CIA who all knew one another, knew each other's strengths and weaknesses and would lead the US in a wholly new and independent venture to unmask the efforts of the USSR to undermine the post-war world.
