CopyRight v CopyLeft. Finding the Balance:The CopyLeft Perspective

To the extent that there is any organisation to copyleft, you need to look to the developments in copyright protection for computer works in the US in the 1970s and '80s. Copyleft is primarily a reference to a licensing model. It is not a movement per se, however the term is also used to indicate a broader culture or attitude to copyright, associated with libertarian views about access to knowledge. Both the term's original use as a reference to a form of copyright licensing and broader cultural notions of copyleft are outlined below.
