Dr Reddy's (DRL) appealed from the judgment of Mr Justice Floyd ([2008] EWHC 2345) where he dismissed DRL's application for revocation of Eli Lillys EP(UK) Patent No 0454436.rnThe patent related to a pharmaceutical product for the treatment of schizophrenia. The prior art acknowledged the difficulty and continuing lack of success in developing a drug treatment for the condition, mainly because of 'a profound ignorance in the real cause(s) and pathogenesis of schizophrenia'.
