Choosing counsel in China

When selecting IP counsel in China don't forget the old adage: "time spent in reconnaissance is never wasted".rnA key task for any in-house IP counsel is to evaluate the external lawyers employed for China-related IP matters. A recurring question is whether it is better to use the large international firms or the less well known, but potentially cheaper, local Chinese firms. The answer, as with many things in the law, is "it depends". Both have their uses, advantages and drawbacks.
