The term "witness" as used in the statute dealing with proceedings before the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) that gives district courts subpoena authority to command the appearance of witnesses in such proceedings is not limited to natural persons and allows a court to reach corporations, according to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
