Office of the U.S. Trade Representative Releases Information on Plans to Stop Theft of Intellectual Property

A federal agency that formulates international trade policy has released a summary of a proposed "anti-counterfeiting trade agreement," reversing its previous refusal to release any information on the deal as classified because of national security concerns. The agreement, known as ACTA, would impose strict enforcement of intellectual property rights related to Internet activity and trade in information-based goods, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
