XV. MARKS LIKELY TO CAUSE DILUTION

According to 15 U.S.C.A. § 1052(f), Lanham Act § 2(f), likelihood of causing dilution is a basis for rejecting an application (or cancelling an existing junior registration), but dilution may only be raised in an inter partes opposition or cancellation proceeding. It may not be raised by the examining attorney during the ex parte phrase of registration proceedings.
