This book is an excellent example of the global catastrophe literature that J. D. Hamblin says was triggered by the US military. It is a fascinating and somewhat eccentric addition to the extremely large collection of climate change books in that it addresses "climate forcing of geological hazards." The author is Professor of Geophysical and Climate Hazards at University College London, a science writer, and a BBC broadcaster, so he has the combination of technical knowledge and communication skills to convince readers that this is not just another environmental scare.
