Corona loss measurement on loaded operating DC lines

Long-term field measurements of corona-related effects on operating DC lines pose a problem because the corona current is a very small percentage of the load current. A novel method is described that enables such a measurement to be made. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated by its successful application to a laboratory line.
