TAIWAN'S BOND BUST

For several years laiwanese bond funds were one of the hottest investment vehicles in Asia. Assets under management more than tripled after 2000, to $2.44 trillion New Taiwan dollars ($73 billion) in May 2004, reflecting Taiwanese investors' preference for fixed income and their hunger for yield funds at a time of declining interest rates.
