Polaris International Securities Investment Trust (Polaris) is taking advantage of the renewed optimism in Taiwan's capital markets to bring its successful family of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to a wider, international audience. Polaris has been the leader in Taiwan's ETF market for quite some time, offering seven ETFs domestically under its P-Shares series. The largest and most popular, the Polaris Taiwan Top 50 Tracker Fund, has NT$58.582 billion (US$1.864 billion) under management. The Polaris Taiwan Non-Tech 50 ETF tracks the TAIEX Non-Electronics 50 Sub-Index created by the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TSE). The sub-index contains the shares of 50 non-electronics large-cap firms listed on the TSE, comprising industries such as financial, plastics, oil and electricity, iron and steel, and transportation.
