The German Physicist Werner Heisenberg famously stated that if you determine the precise position of a subatomic particle, you cannot accurately measure its momentum. Heisen-berg's uncertainty principle became a cornerstone of quantum mechanics and won him the Nobel Prize in physics in 1932.
