This year has seen a number of changes at the top of many of Institutional Investor's 12 annual research team surveys. Eight of the firms that finish in first place did not hold that rank last year. Some return to the top after a long absence-Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Latin America, UBS in Europe - and some celebrated their first appearances atop a national or regional roster (Kotak Securities in India, Morgan Stanley in Asia). Despite the changes, however, there is one constant: Bof AMerrill outpaces the competition when the results of the surveys are aggregated-capturing the title of Ⅱ's Top Global Research Firm of the Year, as it has every year since this roster was introduced in 2011. The firm has a cumulative total of 242 positions. J.P. Morgan seizes the No. 2 spot for a fifth year running, with 201 positions. These are the only two firms with team-position totals above 200, a distinction they earned last year as well.
