Atsushi Saito doesn't know how to quit. At age 75, Saito, who stepped down as CEO of Japan Exchange Group in June, has taken on another high-powered job: nonexecutive chair of KKR Japan, an arm of New York-based alternative-asset giant KKR. A formergovernment official who once oversaw major bank bailouts, hebringsdeep knowledge of Japan's public and private sectors to the firm. In his previous role Saito merged the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges, creating the world's No. 3 trading platform, behind NYSE Euronext and Nasdaq OMX Group. He will help KKR Japan, which launched in 2007, to focus on restructuring carve-outs from domestic companies.
