After five years of stellar economic growth, the Philippines turned in yet another remarkable performance in 2017. The economy expanded an impressive 6.7 percent on the back of higher private and public consumption, rising exports, and increased fixed investment,mainly from the government's ambitious infrastructure building program. That figure puts the Philippines just behind China's 6.9 percent and Vietnam's 6.8 percent in the regional growth league. Better still, most analysts believe that the Philippines' economic fundamentals remain strong with the country's debt to GDP ratio falling to around 40 percent today compared to a high of 75 percent.
