What is the Aerospace Group?

Aerospace is one of the specialist groups set up within the British Institute of NDT and, as its name implies, endeavours to develop activities and give a voice to the many members who work in the Aerospace Sector of nondestructive testing. Committee membership is drawn from aircraft and equipment manufacturers as well as the CAA, Training Schools and Independent Inspection Companies. Overhaul Agencies as well as airlines are represented, in fact any organisation involved in Civil or Military Air Transport. Members of the Aerospace Committee also sit on a number of Institute committees, including Council, as well the SBAC/ NDTSIG and CAA/NDT Industry Liaison Committee. The aims of the Aerospace Group are to: 1. Monitor the activity of the Regulatory and Certification Bodies to see how changes to rules and regulations affect the management and practitioners within the Aerospace Sector. 2. Actively participate in committees and working groups where aerospace issues are discussed. 3. Encourage articles to be written for inclusion in Institute Publications. 4. Encourage attendance at branch meetings and conferences to promote the work within the Aerospace Sector.
