Multi-sector certificates: pre- and in-service

PCN has received numerous queries lately from employers in industry regarding confusion surrounding multi-sector certificates and what is covered. A multi-sector certificate covers castings, wrought products and welds. The old version of the PCN appendix allowed candidates to sit, for example, magnetic particle testing in multi-sector. The document also states that at Levels 1 and 2 the candidate can choose to cover only a single sector (castings, wrought products or welds) or any combination of two of these. Currently, when keying a results notice in to the database, this will be keyed as a multi-sector certificate, with the scope of categories listing the sectors covered.
