AFGSC: Nuclear triad modernization still needed in post-COVID world

The potential long-term budget implications of the novel coronavirus pandemic are beginning to shape thinking about what weapon system programs to defend should military spending face dramatic reductions, according to the top Air Force general in charge of Global Strike Command. Gen. Timothy Ray said he is prepared to make the case for the nuclear triad to be modernized despite the current global health crisis - an event he said is poised to change the course of future military spending on par with the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941, the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 and the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
