DOD using new joint architecture to guide key cyber programs

The Pentagon has established a new Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture to ensure the military's cyber capabilities are better integrated, according to the head of U.S. Cyber Command. The architecture was developed over the past year, Gen. Paul Nakasone, the commander of CYBERCOM and director of the National Security Agency, states in testimony submitted prior to a Feb. 14 Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. The new scheme is necessary because the department's 133 cyber mission teams "require a comprehensive, integrated cyberspace architecture to achieve and sustain the insight, agility, and lethality necessary for maintaining competitive advantage against near-peer adversaries," Nakasone states.
