FLOURNOY URGES CONGRESS TO 'DO THE RIGHT THING' ON DEFENSE BUDGET

Pentagon policy chief Michele Flournoy yesterday urged Congress not to oppose the termination of unnecessary weapons programs merely to sustain jobs, arguing that many other needed programs can keep industry working and bolster America's economy.rnSpeaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Flournoy appealed to Congress to "do the right thing" on the defense budget proposal soon to be advanced by the administration.rn"But you don't want to buy a capability you don't need just because of jobs," she said.
