Looking ahead at 2009, the Coast Guard's acquisition chief believes the Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter, which is expected to move into detailed design and construction, will produce dividends on work the service has done this year to reform its acquisitions processes.rnDuring a Dec. 17 telephone interview with sister publication Inside the Navy, Coast Guard Rear. Adm. Gary Blore noted that while there's always room for improvement, the service has gotten its acquisition process "right" for many significant programs now under its purview since the Coast Guard took control of its Deepwater recapitalization program from an industry partnership between Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. This improvement is seen in the FRC, the Sentinel-class cutter procurement, the admiral argued.
