摘要

The Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center's failure to follow procedures on $4.7 billion worth of undefinitized contractual actions is putting the department in a poor bargaining position and could be generating unnecessary costs, according to a report by the Pentagon's inspector general's office.rnThe Defense Department's inspector general's review, released Dec. 16, identified 45 separate instances where the Space and Missile Systems Center's (SMC) contracting personnel failed to comply with statutory and DOD requirements for managing 26 of 27 undefinitized contractual actions, or UCAs, reviewed. These instances could have caused the Air Force to assume increased risk as it develops and procures military space systems. The SMC manages between $50 billion and $60 billion of contracts at a time.
