摘要

The Army's top uniformed official said last week that the service will not have to reduce its size to find $2 billion in fiscal year 2012 savings that Defense Secretary Robert Gates is requiring as part of the Pentagon's drive to find efficiencies.rnGen. George Casey, chief of staff, said the service has "had some good success in eliminating some redundancies" across the service. "We believe we can get at the $2 [billion] to $3 billion a year that we need [and] not have to cut our force structure through these efficiencies that we've been working on the last couple of years," Casey said in an address at the Aspen Institute's Ideas Festival on July 10.
