Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin have inked a deal to compete for the Air Force's HH-60 Recapitalization program, a move that company officials say could help put desperately needed combat search-and-rescue helicopters on the ramp before 2015.rnThe companies - which have worked together on the Naval Hawk and other military programs - have "been chatting about" a partnership arrangement for "a few months," according to Scott Starrett, president of Sikorsky Military Systems. The decision to partner comes in the wake of another pact signed by the two companies earlier this year to compete in the Navy's presidential helicopter program.
