Strategy: DOD Will Save Billions Through Implementing IT Initiatives

The Pentagon anticipates saving up to $5.2 billion over the next five years by implementing more than two dozen information technology initiatives designed to increase efficiency, effectiveness and security, according to the Defense Department's recently released Information Technology Enterprise Strategy and Roadmap. The document lays out 26 initiatives designed to help DOD improve its information environment from one mired by stovepipes to one that is more centralized. These initiatives will look at network services, computing services, application and data services, end-user services and IT business processes.
